Nipple Care : The Breast
Ducts: Branch like
tubules in which milk travels from the alveoli to the nipple
Areola: The pigmented circular area around
the nipple. It is thought that the baby uses the areola as a target
when latching on
Nipple: The nipple consists of pores where
milk exits the breast
Ampulla: Large sack or “reservoirs” which
store small quantities of breast milk
Fatty Tissue: Offers protection against
injury
Alveoli: Milk is
made in these structures which is then passed into the ducts
