Nipple Care : The Breast

Ducts: Branch like tubules in which milk travels from the alveoli to the nipple

Areola: The pigmented circular area around the nipple. It is thought that the baby uses the areola as a target when latching on

Nipple: The nipple consists of pores where milk exits the breast

Ampulla: Large sack or “reservoirs” which store small quantities of breast milk

Fatty Tissue: Offers protection against injury

Alveoli: Milk is made in these structures which is then passed into the ducts
